The First Mark

Starting is the hardest moment in any creative process ~ this is a day designed entirely around that threshold. We begin with what you have, follow what you desire, and make the first mark together.

this is not a technique class ~ this is a space for the energetics of your creative process to stabilize and expand. to help you find your own unique creative style by removing what's been in the way of it.

The day weaves art-making with somatic work, movement, breath, and kundalini kriyas ~ not as separate modalities, but as one continuous process. The body and the work in conversation.

What can't happen any other way is real-time feedback ~ on the art, and on the stories that surface as you begin. Those two things are almost always the same story.

This works for painters, mixed media artists, musicians, producers ~ anyone whose creative process has a body, which is everyone.

We go to the art store together, you choose your supplies, and by the end of the day you have your first finished piece.

We enter your studio and optimize it ~ feng shui for creative flow, rearranging the space until your body feels safe, attuned, and ready to make. Then we begin.

I sit with you in your music studio while you produce ~ present for the moments where the stories arise, where the block isn't technical but something older.

You've been circling a piece for months. We spend the day inside it together ~ movement, breath, then back to the canvas, until it moves again.

You want to try a new medium ~ encaustic, mixed media, something you've never touched. We build the physical and nervous-system confidence to enter it.

The shape of the day is determined together, based on what you need. No two look the same.

This work draws from studies in energetic alchemy practices, over a decade of freelance art, experience teaching k–12 artists globally, and an art therapy master's program I left ~ because a clinic didn't suit me. A studio did.

01

Framing an intention

We begin with what you're reaching toward ~ not a goal, but a felt sense. Something to orient the day.

02

Material definition

We look at what you have, what you desire, and what will actually get you there. Medium, tools, texture ~ made clear.

03

Establishing safety

The body needs to feel held before anything moves through it. Breath, movement, somatic settling ~ we don't skip this part.

04

Meeting what comes through

We begin. I'm present in real time for the hesitation, the stories, the moments where the work and the self become the same thing.

05

Finding flow

The point is not a finished piece ~ it's a nervous system that knows how to create. We stay until you're in it.
